5) ATTRACTING & ADDRESSING AUDIENCES

Our target audiences use social media, therefore we reach out to them on a variety of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram.

In addition, we use more traditional distribution platforms to address our audience, such as a film website and film poster.

OUR FACEBOOK PAGE
I took responsibility for creating a Facebook page for our film 'Nine.'  The reason for doing this is because it adds to the overall distribution of the film. Our target audience will all have Facebook, therefore I believed it was the perfect social media platform to reach them. It is a live, interactive  Facebook page, therefore I hope to receive feedback about our production. For Henry Jenkins, Web 2.0 allows what he calls 'participatory culture,' meaning that I can create work, share it on the web and receive feed back from others.

I have also included a screenshot of what our film website looks like on a mobile device. The reason why I have chosen to include this is because it shows I have taken the time to consider how my target audience will view our social media campaigns. Most people of my age and of the target demographic (15-35) use mobile platforms by choice. I had to make sure the page looked appealing and attractive when viewed on a variety of devices.

INSTAGRAM

I have created an Instagram account in order to professionally distribute our movie opening. The reason behind this was to attract and address our audiences. The social media platform known as Instagram is used on a daily basis by millions of people each day. Due to this it means that our movie would pick up thousands of followers. Also our aged target audience mirrors the target audience for Instagram enabling us to pick up even more followers. In order for me to create this Instagram account I had to create a production email address. For example ours was…. ninethemovie@Hotmail.com

TWITTER

Over time I realised that Instagram and Facebook just wasn't enough for distributing our film. Therefore after reading Alan Rusbridger’s article on “Why Twitter matters for media organisations”, I was instantly gripped to create an account. When reading the article I picked up some key points such as, Twitter is one of the biggest search engines and that most news are first published on there. It also is said to be that Twitter can be a great way to get feedback and also that it is outstanding for marketing. In my personal opinion I also think that due to you only being able to write 140 characters it means that everyone will want to read what you have written as it is short and simple. Due to this it makes it look more appealing for the audience. I am also beginning to use Twitter for my personal use. This will involve me following films that I am interested in as well as re-tweeting tweets about my groups film opening of ‘Nine’.

  1. Excellent understanding shown of the 'participatory culture' of Instagram, FB and Twitter in reaching out to your target audience and of the significance of establishing a channel for communication and feedback. Professional-looking platforms created and curated. Well done! The more conventional P&A of the film poster also functions well in attracting and addressing your target audience.
