6) NEW TECHNOLOGIES

BLOGGER
Blogger hosted all my other new technologies at the research and planning stage. As a multi-media social networking tool it allowed me to collate, archive, display and create research and planning with images, videos, sound files and posts that I could share with my group. It hosted all my other presentational tools, from Emaze to Slideshare. Later, I used it for feedback (adding my work in progress) and evaluation of my finished work (on YouTube).  It is easy to use and very versatile. My blog is the hub of all my production work. Along the way I also learnt how to use Blogger to the best of its ability. For example, how to upload video's onto my blog and integrating presentational devices into the written work that I have carried out.

PREZI
I used Prezi to present the ways I analysed genre codes and conventions. This was done by using fancy presentational transitions and designs. By doing this it adds a unique display to my work.

YOUTUBE

I have used YouTube for research and for inviting feedback on your own video work. I did this via Claremont's very own YouTube channel. I was also able to carry out research into other A level films. This was very helpful as it gave me a gage as to what other students were producing.

FACEBOOK

Facebook was used to produce a film for the distribution of our film. I did this to extend our target audience. I personally thought that this was the perfect social media web link to use as it is has millions of accounts, meaning that lots of people would be interested in our film.

PLANNING

iMessage

I used iMessage to keep in touch when planning with my group. A group chat was made with enabled us to make sure everyone in the group new what the plans were and meant that there was no confusion throughout the planning process.

GOOGLE DOCS

This is a sophisticated and flexible tool that enabled us to work collaboratively on the same documents. We used it extensively when creating the shot list, the call sheets and the scripts. It is flexible because we could update ideas, add photos of locations, plan the blocking of movements with photos to prompt our memories and keep our ideas looking professional and easy to access. Google docs let us create and share our work online and access our documents from anywhere.

TRELLO
I found that Trello was extremely useful as it kept me organised. The reason for this is because it is an electronically to do list. This meant that I was constantly able to keep up to date on what needs to be done and when. This kept me on track and made sure things were done and handed in on or before the deadlines.

EMAZE

Like Slideshare, Emaze presents work visually with beautiful graphical tools and accepts PowerPoint uploads.

FACETIME
As a Mac Users I planned together with my group using FaceTime as a video conferencing tool. FaceTime was important to us because it is live chat with a visual dimension, so it is virtually like a real conversation, allowing us to show each other our ideas for props and blog posts as we chatted. It is spontaneous, immediate and free to use.

MOBILE PHONE

Have you found this useful for keeping in touch with your group, for planning & location shots.

CONSTRUCTION

DIGITAL CAMERA

For the construction of our film we used two different digital (DSLR) camera's. The two DSLR's we used were a Canon D550 and a D650. We found this too camera's suited our needs perfectly and found that we had no problems when using them. We were well prepared and made sure that the batteries were fully charged at all times and that we had all necessary technological requirements meaning that we had no problems.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

We used Adobe Photoshop to produce our film poster. We found that using this software was very accessible as it was relatively easy to use. We all had a fair amount of experience meaning our skills were shown in the final poster.

Final Cut Pro X

I used Final Cut Pro to produce our title sequence for our film. I did this by using my previous experience with after effects. Due to my experience I know how to create several different types of sequences using this one software and with ease.

EVALUATION

FACEBOOK
You can invite feedback about your production using
FaceBook.

YOUTUBE
The most useful aspect of Youtube that I found was to get feedback on my film and gather a rating for it.

  1. Excellent and effective use of a wide variety of new technologies in the research, planning, construction and evaluation of your production, all beautifully presented and explained. Evidence of a variety of competently deployed presentational platforms such as Emaze, Prezi, FB, Twitter, GoogleDocs, all with live links for evidence. Well organized and lucid response.
